General Information

Teaching and Learning

In Wu-Chi you will be encouraged to teach very early on in your training, we believe that the best way to learn something in depth is to teach it out.

Practice

How do you get good?

  1. Practice
  2. Eliminating imperfection
  3. Lifestyle choices

If you don't put the time into training in your own time, it will be harder for your instructor to progress you.

Repetition

The best way to learn and retain any information is to repeat it over and over again, and when you think you have had enough do twice as much again. Repetition will thicken the neural pathways in your brain and reinforce muscle memory.

Question

Question everything!

There will be a question and answer time in class, so be prepared with questions to ask your instructor, this not only helps you to learn but will also help the teacher improve. As a suggestion, as soon as you think of a question write it down in a section at the back of your notebook dedicated to questions.

What is your motivation(s) to do Wu-Chi?

  4. Pen
  5. Notebook

So I know when I have six items I'm good to go.

Youngsters and Elders

What is younger in the Wu-Chi School of Arts? It is not a representation of a person’s biological age. But by how long they have been studying a particular subject. For example, I could be 20 years old and have trained in Wu-Chi martial arts for one year. Then if a 30-year-old person comes into a Wu-Chi martial arts class for the first time, then they will be considered to be younger than me.

You can also use this attitude in other areas of your life. Be mindful that people younger then you will know more about certain subjects than you. So don’t just dismiss what they say because you are biologically older.
